Originally, the expression "Beyond the Pale" referred to the uncivilized lands outside the reach of authority. Those within the "Pale" were considered to be benign and under centralized control; those beyond were an unruly lot who were best avoided by the sophisticated classes. This analogy applies to those aggressive advanced planning techniques we may implement or compete against depending on various factors. This session will address those strategies that, in the wrong hands, are often abused. There is a time and place for captive insurance companies, Section 79 Plans, Sharkfin CLATs, Restricted Property Trusts, and Life Settlements, but their uses are limited. "Beyond the Pale" will give you the knowledge to compete against these mass marketed techniques; it will also lay out those situations when your clients may want to consider them.
